Greetings to the Father, Son, Spirit, angels and saints in Christ. The Lord told me to write on “practical tips for leaders”. Some of it is hard stuff, but as I meditated on the instructions this morning, it seemed that He wants leaders in the kingdom to ‘simplify your life” . This is what God said to me:

  • First, He said that leaders must be exclusive from the multitude and that everyone should not have access to you (cell phone nos etc). He said you should follow His example in questioning the disciples/leaders with hard questions about the things of God/the vision etc, then listen for the nature and the spirit of the response.
  • He said to ask if you know who is following you for bread? Do you know, He said, who is following out of envy? Do you know who is betraying you with your enemies? He said that does not intend for you to become paranoid, but you really cannot waste time with a Judas.
  • He said that you should ask God to separate Judas from you (all of this I received on 27th March).
  • He said to ask who are the pillars or the people bringing spiritual revelation to light/who are the people walking in the Lord’s inner circle? Do you know them? Who is your John? He said to tell you (this is hard), that your John should be your wife or your intended wife. Your John, He says, has access to deep spiritual truth, to the things of God and to your deepest secrets. This is where you are safest, because your John will inform you about your end times, in the context in which we speak.
  • He said, too, that your John could also be your key spiritual leader who knows God the way you do. This is because a person with spiritual revelation is a person in relationship with God. Peter, James and John were also chosen because they were friends, close knit, blood relatives (a picture of the church).
  • Now this one is hard and I really did not want to write this blog at all, but the Lord said to tell you about telephone access by leaders etc. He said that you should have at least three phones – one for your mate, children and inner leader/your John (always answer this one, He says). The other is for the 12, the general ministry heads. Never answer this one – use voice mail then refer the questions back to the appropriate source/leader/department etc. I was like, say what? He also said that you need one for the 70 with the same principle in ministry.

The Lord explained to me that the principle is in the issue of delegation and found in Acts 6: 1-7:

“And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

Then THE TWELVE CALLED the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch: Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

AND THE WORD OF GOD INCREASED; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith”.

Pay atttention here. The twelve remained and there was also a multitude of disciples. Jesus said to follow the apostles (the 12) in example here. Leaders need to structure the system so that a smooth system of delegation (assignment of responsibility) is in place:

  • If you have pastors, for example, they should be pastors to every member of the flock (maybe assigned to geographical areas, for instance).
  • Members should really not be pulling on the one man or woman at the top of the organization except in the instance where it is an absolutely critical or a life and death situation.
  • True leaders keep their fingers on the pulse of an organization, so they develop their leadership by instructing them on important issues related to the organization then dealing directly with the extremely critical issues. Apart from that, pastors, evangelists, prophets, elders etc in the organization will be underutilized.
  • What would have happened to us if Jesus had decided that He was going to remain on earth to run the church because Peter was not good enough? He would have been limited in time and space. As leaders/visionaries, the goal is to be able to see, feel and hear the heart of God so the word of God can increase. That is why administrators were assigned in the early church.  Pay attention here! They were men full of the spirit and working miracles, signs and wonders, another message to leaders (see Acts 6: 8 on Stephen, one of the Food Pantry Administrators).
  • The Lord said that regular leadership meetings are for the instruction, correction, reproof etc of the leaders, so that the visionary’s finger can be kept on the pusle of the church. You have to take the role that the Lord takes as Head of the church, downloading knowledge, skills and the correct attitudes and mindsets to the leaders/who are the equippers of the body as in Eph 3.

If you are on the ball, great! Keep at it, but ask God for greater excellence and the ability to fine tune things. He said too, to teach the leaders to pray as in Mt 6 since your leaders have to be as effective as you are effective or your ministry will collapse. Jesus’ disciples did not learn to pray by listening to him, for some reason (some people need to be taught a method/approach, like Jesus taught His disciples). Note that John taught his disciples to pray.

Peter the leader of the early church followed Jesus’ example and prayed a lot (Act 3). He was full of so much power that people craved his very shadow for healing (Acts 5: 15). They prayed for everything in the early church, including the ordination of Paul to the evangelistic ministry, according to the direction of the Holy Ghost (Acts 13:1-2). We are ineffective today because we spend more time on “church” than relationship with God through prayer. Heaven help us! Help me! If we are to see the Lord clearly and hear what He has to say to the churches, we must run to the place where He can speak clearly and reveal His presence and power! I have a few points left on this topic then will move on to married love in the will of the Lord. Blessings!
