Greetings to the Father, Angels and saints in Christ! I got this one on 3/26/07 and will share later on titles and roles in the church which I got last night. What is love? I was asked to use the scripture in Songs of Sol 8: 6 which says:

“set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.”

Strong language indeed, but the words were spoken by a woman who desired the love of the king.

In this scripture, she desired to be set as a seal on Solomon’s heart.

In other words, she wants to lock him up (or his affections) from accessing any other love.

Why does she want to place herself as a seal upon his arm?

She is saying that she wants to become his emblem or badge. She wants to be put in a place of honor.

She wants a public display of his love.

She wants to be engraved in the place of strength – his arm. She wants to be here because this love should never be taken back.

Love is as strong as death. When death comes, it does not give up its captives unless a stronger power resurrects the dead person. Death means that you are unconscious to everything else. Love means that you are unconscious to all other people and their affections. You are dead to their allure.

The Lord showed me that Adam and Eve had neither comparison nor competition for their affection. They had no other human in their existence. They were exclusively set apart for each other (of course, God and the angels were there, but we mean in the marriage). Get the point? Eve belonged to Adam. She was made from and for him. He was the one who was so awestruck by her creation, but she did not say anything. What could she say? He had longed for someone like him when he got her! Bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh! His dream was realized!

The Spirit said that when we say that “love is as strong as death”, it means that love is irrevocable! You cannot take it back! Jealousy is cruel as the grave. Jealousy and love? Yes! They go together! God is a jealous God! Don’t mess about with false gods because you will never hear the end of it!

Same way with love. Don’t turn your mate into a jealous lover! You will regret. Love is a flaming fire, because it goes along with an element of possession which will react to threats to the love. Love is passionate. Songs of Sol 8: 6 suggests that there should be a burning passion in love.

Love should have some excitement and fire in it! Wow! Now what is that? How could passion, excitement and fire be developed in love? If you are married and in a platonic relationship, then ask God to light the fire.

Blessings and more to come!
