Welcome back readers! I promised in the previous post that I would examine the other references for the word “diakonos”. In the subsequent scriptures, the word is used to mean a minister. Our purpose is therefore to identify the elements of the word and to cross reference back to the deacon so that we could better understand the   role that he or she should carry out in the Body of Christ:

Mat 20:26 But it shall not  be so  among  you  but  whosoever will  be  great among  you, let him be  your  minister.

Mar 10:43 But so  shall it not  be among  you: but whosoever will 2309 be great among you, shall be your minister

Rom 13:4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do  that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

Rom 15:8 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers

Gal 2:17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinner, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.

Eph 3:7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God  given unto me by the effectual working of his power.

Eph 6:21 But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved  brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you  all things

Col 1:7 As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ

Col 1:23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away  from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every  creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister

Col 1:25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God

Col 4:7 All my state shall Tychicus declare unto you, who is a beloved brother, and  a faithful minister and fellowservant in the Lord

1Th 3:2 And  sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith

1Ti 4:6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be  a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained

More when we return. Meantime it is extremely important that we study the context of these scriptures for a better understanding of their meanings. For example, who was Tychius? What was his role in Paul’s ministry? It seems that the Body of Christ has become lost with a variety of terms which really all mean the same thing. LEt’s keep it simple!
