Hagar ran away from home, but had an encounter with God (Gen 16: 7-16). She had no clue about her destination, but spoke with the Lord who appeared to her as an Angel. He revealed to her the destiny of the child. Her response to God reveals that she was speaking to God (one member of the God family):

And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me? (Gen 16: 13).

Yehovah or The Existing One, is the Hebrew word for the LORD. When she said, “thou God seest me”, she used the word “EL” or Mighty One. Even more significantly, she named the well

Beer-lahai-roi = “well of the Living One seeing me”.

Hagar was overwhelmed by her encounter with God. She had thought that she was well hidden from Sarah, but here was God who “found” her and revealed her past, present and future. Interestingly, God shows us that He reveals Himself to anyone He chooses and is no respecter of persons. After all, Hagar was only a cheeky, out of order servant. She seemed to deserve her job loss, but God had a plan for her life.

Be encouraged, God has His eye on you! Blessings!
