Scriptures  reveal that Jesus is another of the captains of the host of the Lord and a mighty warrior. Here are some references:

1. In John 1: 59 – 61, Jesus told Nathnael that he would witness greater miracles of angels ascending and descending to the Lord  from  heaven. Jacob was the only other  person who spoke of seeing angels ascending and descending from heaven in a vision (Gen 28: 12-13). We know that Jacob continued to receive instructions in dreams from angels and was led by them through his life

Jesus told Nathanael that he would see greater things than these.  This means that the disciples close to the Lord actually experienced angelic visitations. Jesus continued to have angels at His command during His ministry and life on earth.

He must have called them to provide food for Him after the 40 day fast in the wilderness and during the period of agony in the Garden of Gethsemane. I try to imagine sometimes the ways in which they would  have helped Him during His earthly life. The angelic visitations were so common place, I believe, that the disciples took them for granted.

 2. Another striking example of Jesus as the  Captain of the host was revealed at His arrest. At that time, PEter pulled out his sword to fight, but the Lord said to him:

Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? (Mt 26: 51).

3. However, the best picture of Jesus as Captain of the host is vividly portrayed in Revelation 19: 11-15:

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him [was] called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

His eyes [were] as a flame of fire, and on his head [were] many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

And he [was] clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

And the armies [which were] in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

More to come later on Jesus – Captain of the host. Blessings and have a great day!
