The Lord has asked me to write in more detail about the elements of satan worship. With this in mind, I will draw to our attention that satan was cast out of heaven because he tried to take  God’s place and has since been deceiving people into worshipping him as g0d. Satan worship existed before the flood and continued in the days after the flood.

We know that the descendents of the giants were found in the earth after the flood. They were God haters and worshipped many false gods. I have written repeatedly that the worship of demons takes place in the guise of idols worship. Please see this post for reference:

When God therefore came with His saints the Jews to recapture the earth and to reestablish His worship, the very first commandment was a stern warning that they must neither worship or bow down to  the gods of the surrounding nations nor make idols. God also told them not to even mention the names of these devils in their conversation. The heathen worshipped demons such as Baal, Molech, Chemosh, Milcom, Ashtoreth, Dagon.

Elements of the worship of demons revealed in scriptures:

a. Molech

One of the main elements of  in the worship of Molech was child sacrifice. The idol was depicted Satan is a murderer In fact, God hated this so much that He repeatedly warned the Jews not to pass their children through the fire to this god.  He had already used Isaac as an example  to teach us that He does not require or condone human sacrifices. God hated the practice of human sacrifice so much that He told the Jews to kill anyone who followed this practice and also said that He would destroy the perpetrators if they  refused to obey Him:

b. Chemosh

Chemosh means subduer and was worshipped by the Moabites and Ammonites. King Solomon forsook God and built  altars for the worship of  Ashtoreth,  Milcom, Chemosh and Molech. Can you see the implications?  God judged him by taking his kingdom away and giving it to his servant.

c. Baal

Baal was worshipped for fertility, life and prosperity.  God judged Israel for allowing Balaam to lead them astray in the worship of  Baal and fornication/prostitution which was associated with the worship:

And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab

And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods

And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel (Num 25: 1-3).

The worship of Baal also involved human ascrifice and the (Jer: 19: 5; 32: 35) and the worship of the sun, moon, planets and hosts of heaven

d. Ashtoreth

This demon was worshipped for protection from war and for fertility.

e. Dagon

Worshipped by the Philistines, Dagon was the god of fertility and was  represented with the face and hands of a man and the tail of a fish.

Although the preceding cannot represent the wealth of information available on the worship of these gods/demons, it would help us to understand the situation that existed before the flood. The people were carefree revellers, worshipping demons with acts of sexual impurities, murder and haters of the True and Living God.

There are numerous cults in existence that have descended from these ancient false religions.  We are to be on guard, in the world but not a part of its system. I hope that you were blessed

Be strong in the Lord and His power, putting on the armor that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
