Jesus used several Greek words to refer to “good” fruit. They are:

  1. Kalos (G 2570) found in Mt 13: 8, 23 and Mk 4: 8, 20. Kalos is translated to mean “beautiful by reason of purity of heart and life, and hence praiseworthy, morally good, noble”.
  2.  Agathos (G 18), which is  found in Lk 8: 8, 15.

The word kalos is used to mean:

  • good fruit
  • good works
  • good tree
  • good ground
  • good seed
  • goodly pearls
  • meet (mt 15: 26)
  • good work (s)
  • better (better to enter into heaven with one hand than having two and go to hell)
  • salt is good (no  good without flavor)
  • good measure

  • honest
  • good fight of faith
