Jesus promised the Tree of Life to the overcoming church of Smyrna

Can you imagine the joy that the believers of Smyrna experienced when they heard the Lord’s promise of eternal life if they refused to deny Him?:

And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;

I know thy of works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death  Rev 2:8 -11)

I’ve written previously about the tree of life, which in scripture refers to:

  • A real tree of  life which bears 12 varieties of fruits monthly
  • A tree whose leaves possess hidden, healing properties (Rev 22: 2)
  • Jesus the Tree of Life or The True Vine (John 15)
  • The Word of God – enjoyed by those who abide in Christ (John 15)

Therefore, to eat from the Tree of Life means to:

  • Fellowship with Jesus and to be taught by Him
  • Enter heaven, which is God’s Paradise
  • To live forevermore.

Where is the literal tree of life?

God also placed a Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden.  Unfortunately, we do not know exactly where this tree is.  However, I believe that the fruits of the tree of life can be found here on earth.

There are some fruits with unusual life giving properties. People who eat these fruits enjoy unusually long lives, when other factors are equal (for example, diet, exercise).

Examples of such fruits may include the:

  • Mangosteen
  • Grape – Jesus deliberately used it as a symbol of His cleansing blood. Read about its healing properties
  • Olive
  • Acaia
  • Check Himalayas

More to come on the “crown of life.”
