In his letter to the Galatians, who had been formerly Gentiles, Apostle Paul explained that Abraham had been saved when he believed God’s Word. “Righteousness through Faith” had been established in Abraham. All those who follow his example will also be justified by faith.

The Law of Moses was given to teach the Jews to live right. Abraham played a key role in God’s eternal plan to justify all nations through faith in Jesus Christ.

Apostle Paul revealed the secret spiritual connections between Abraham and Christ:

  • We are justified by the faith of Christ and not the law of Moses (Gal 2: 16).
  • Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness (Gal 3: 6).
  • Those who believe God are the children of Abraham (Gal 3: 7; 9)
  • God prophesized that He would justify the heathen through faith when He told Abraham that all nations would be blessed in him (Gen 12: 3; Gen 18: 18)
  • Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law when he hung on the tree. The Gentiles would inherit the blessing of faithful Abraham when they believe in Christ (Galatians 3: 13 & 14).
  • Christ is the seed of Abraham. Paul stressed that God told always spoke in the singular “seed” and not “seeds” when speaking to Abraham (Galatians 3: 16).
  • Since God gave the inheritance to Abraham by a promise, he had to believe the Word of God in order to inherit it (Gal 3: 18).

Therefore, when Abraham believed God’s promise, it was counted to him as righteousness. In the same manner, those who believe in Jesus, the seed of Abraham, will also be made righteous with God.
