Election results – 2005 & 2010

There was an increase of  4954 additional voters in 2010, a factor which could be either due to new voter registration or  previously registered non voters coming to the polls.  Further data will  enable us to analyze the pattern of voter participation in the election.

Spoiled and/or rejected votes remained relatively stable.  However, even small variances could mean the difference between the win or loss of a seat in constituencies where there is a narrow margin of victory.   More attention could be given to educating the public on “how to write on the ballot paper”.

Close examination of the results show a distinctive change in voter pattern for both parties.   However, key results show that United Labour Party (ULP) regained office with and 8 seats  and 51.29 % of the actual votes, while  New Democratic Party (NPD) gained 7 seats with 46.66 % of the votes.

While the ULP won the Government, data showed a  0.3 % gain in votes in 2010.  The Party should carefully analyze all areas of its governance and adjust in an attempt to regain ground.

Meantime, I join with Apostle Paul to strongly encourage all Vincentians to pray for our Prime Minister and all members of Government:

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, [and] giving of thanks, be made for all men;

For kings, and [for] all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

For this [is] good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus  (1 Timothy 2: 1-5)
