1.  A brief review about what we have learnt about favor to date

We continue today to explore the Bible Doctrine regarding Favor or Grace. In the previous post, we discovered through the experience of the Jews in Egypt that God Transfers Wealth Into The Hands Of His Children As An Act Of Favor.

Let us go back to Prophet Noah who was the first human to be described as having found grace or favor in the eyes of God:

But Noah found “grace”  (H2580/chen) in the eyes of the LORD – Gen 6: 8.

2. Because Moses had found favor in the eyes of  God, he was able to intercede for forgiveness after the Jews had sinned in the wilderness

The experience of the Jews after they sinned in the wilderness revealed that an entire nation can be spared from impeding destruction because of  the intercession of one righteous person who has found great favor in the eyes of the Lord.

The members of the God  Family had convened an important forty day meeting with Apostle Moses in Mount Sinai during which they gave him special revelation about the Law. While the Apostle was shrouded with the very Presence of God, the Jews became discouraged and decided to make and worship a golden calf. They said that this calf was the god that had brought them out of  Egypt.  During this time, they also had a great deal of partying and sexual orgies of the kind that they had learnt in Egypt.

Father God became very angry and threatened to destroy the entire nation and form a new one with Moses and his descendants.  Moses began his intercession by pleading with God to remember His Promise to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and to think of the response of the Egyptians to the news (Exodus 32: 1 – 14).  The scriptures say that God repented of the evil that He had planned.

Note that God informed Moses about the rebellion during the forty day period. Therefore, the Apostle knew through revelation and the Spirit of God’s discernment, the exact spiritual condition of the people although he was not physically present with them (Colossians 2: 5).

Moses himself became extremely angry after his first hand view of the crime scene and begged the Lord for forgiveness.  The Lord then plagued the people. The Father then told Moses that His Presence would not go with them as they entered the land of  Canaan.

3. Moses was a friend of God and therefore found favor in the eyes of the Lord God

As a result of this personal friendship, Moses was able to intercede for the Presence of the Lord to remain with the people of Israel. How can we live without the Presence of God?  The interaction is recorded in Exodus 33:

  • God threatened to remove His Presence – 1 – 4.
  • God asked the people to sanctify themselves, and they did so by dressing without their jewelry – 4.
  • the Lord asked them to remove the offending jewelry while deciding what to do with them – 6.
  • Moses placed the tabernacle outside of the camp, a place which had not been touched by the sin. He then entered the tabernacle to meet with God – 8.
  • He did not go into the mountain because he was not invited and also because the people needed to see the visible manifestation of  the Presence of God, who visited in a cloudy pillar. Furthermore, this was an emergency, as I hear the Lord say  – 9 & 10.
  • The LORD then spoke with Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend – 11.

The description of  the face to face interaction between God and Moses is that of friends speaking.  This friendship is the reason why Moses found such favor in the eyes of the Lord. This close friendship is the basis on which the Apostle was able to successfully plead for the nation.

Abraham was another friend of God.  We see a replica of the face to face interaction in Genesis 18 between God and Abraham who stood before the  Lord and persistently pleaded (wearying the Lord), for the deliverance of  five wicked cities from destruction.

Look at the nature of the interaction between God and Moses as the Apostle used his friendship to beg God to remain with them and not to leave them alone:

And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace (H2580/chen) in my sight.

Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace (H2580/chen) in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace (H2580/chen) in thy sight: and consider that this nation [is] thy people.

For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace (H2580/chen) in thy sight? [is it] not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that [are] upon the face of the earth.

And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace (H2580/chen) in my sight, and I know thee by name  (Exodus 33: 12. 13, 16 & 17).

As I conclude, I hear the Father say that this favor is not about things like cars, homes and wealth.  Favor is about friendship with God, face to face interaction with God and dwelling in the manifest Presence of  God.

Where are the men and women in the earth who are such friends of God that they can spare their nations from destruction?

God is looking for close friends in the earth – people to whom He can say:

I know you by name, and you have also found grace (H2580/chen) in my sight.

Blessings, peace and angelic prosperity.
