1. Satan the Dragon and Satan the Serpent are synonyms in the Scriptures

I’ve been writing that SERPENT is a noun used to describe SATAN in the fall of Adam and Eve. As I continued to study, my  eyes were opened to see that DRAGON and SERPENT are also synonyms in the scriptures.

This revelation is particularly important in the understanding of the Book of Revelation where Apostle John specifically made this association:

the great dragon 1404 was cast out, that serpent3789, called the Devil 1228, and 2532 Satan 4567  Revelation 12: 9.

he laid hold on the dragon 1404, that old serpent3789, which is the Devil 1228,  and Satan 4567, and bound him a thousand years (Revelation 12: 2).

2.  Old Testament scriptures in which DRAGON  and SERPENT are used synonymously

Since Apostle John specifically revealed that satan the dragon and satan the serpent are  synonymous, I explored the Old Testament scriptures for similar linkages.

Interestingly, I found that the Old Testament scriptures laid the foundation for the usage of dragon and serpent as synonyms.  Tanniyn (H 8577) is the Hebrew word used for both nouns. Here are a few examples:

Take thy rod, and cast [it] before Pharaoh, [and] it shall become a serpent8577 – Exodus 7: 9.

For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents8577 Exodus 7: 12.

Their wine [is] the poison of dragons8577 – Deuteronomy 32: 33.

And I went out by night by the gate of the valley, even before the dragon8577 well – Nehemiah 2: 13.

I am a brother to dragons8577 – Job 30: 29.

Though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons8577 Psalm 44: 19

Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon8577 shalt thou trample under feet – Psalm 91: 13

3. Satan the dragon in the Book of Revelation

I was curious so I decided to track the New Testament usage of the word dragon (drakōn/G 1404).  Drakōn occurs thirteen times in twelve verses in the Greek concordance of the King James Version. It would help to read Revelation 13 and 16 in their entirety in order to fully understand the contexts.

The key to interpretation is to remember that DRAGON = SERPENT = SATAN:

And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon 1404, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads

and  the dragon1404 stood  before  the woman…

there was  war  in  heaven: Michael and his  angels  fought against the dragon1404; and  the dragon fought and his angels

And the great dragon1404 was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world…  (Revelation 12: 3, 4, 7, 9).

and the dragon1404 gave him (the beast) his power, and his seat, and great authority – (Revelation 13: 2).

And they worshipped the dragon1404 which gave power unto the beast… (Revelation 13: 4).

And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon1404 (Revelation 13: 11).

And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs [come] out of the mouth of the dragon1404, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet – (Revelation 16: 13).

And he laid hold on the dragon1404, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan – (Revelation 20: 2).
