1. Satan the serpent beguiled Eve using subtilty or craftiness
I wrote in a previous post  that  “Satan Is Very Subtil Or Crafty – Old Testament Scriptures.”  Today, I am going to explore some of the New Testament writings related to satan’s use of subtilty to deceive first mother Eve.
Again, both Old and New Testament scriptures concur that satan is subtil or crafty. THIS IS A WARNING.  Here is one text related to the subtilty or craftiness of the adversary satan:
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent3789 beguiled 1818Eve through his subtilty 3834, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or [if] ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with [him] (2 Corinthians 11: 3 & 4).

2.  The subtilty or craftiness   of satan – he will pretend to be a friend

Panourgia  (G 3834) is the Greek word for subtilty.  It occurs five times in five verses in the Greek concordance of the King James Version and is translated CRAFTINESS four times and SUBTILTY once.

The contexts in which Panourgia is used aid our understanding of how satan demonstrates his subtilty or craftiness.

a. Jesus’ enemies attempted to trap him by pretending to be His disciples

The Lord’s enemies tried to trap him through spies hired by the Chief Priests and Scribes – they represented the religious authority system of the day. These spies pretended to be righteous men (or supporters/believers of His teachings). To this end, they attended his meetings and listened to his teachings with the intent of TWISTING HIS WORDS.

In an attempt to trap and deliver Lord Jesus to the Governor, they asked:

Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no?

But he perceived their craftiness 3834, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me?

Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Caesar’s.

And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s (Luke 20: 22 – 25).

When applied to the Temptation in the Garden of Eden, we see too that satan pretended to be Eve’s friend. His intention, however, was to steal her God-given inheritance and to kill her.

Beware, crafty people often use friendship in attempt to kill.

“Satan Is Very Subtil Or Crafty – Old Testament Scriptures.”

The temptation and fall of man is WRITTEN IN A PARABLE ********

The opening of Adam and Eve’s eyes by satan was a reverse form of blindness

Rebuke the devil if he promises to “open” your eyes

Satan plotted to gore out Adam and Eve’s eyes and kill them!
